5 Online Marketing Strategies for New Marketers

Are you ready to launch your online business and take your first steps as a marketer? Online marketing can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right strategies, you’ll not only grow your audience but also create meaningful connections that drive results. Today I am going to talk about five actionable online marketing strategies to kickstart your business.

Why Online Marketing Strategies Matter for Beginners

1. Educate Your Audience to Build Trust with Online Marketing

What Educating Your Audience Is:

Educating your audience involves sharing valuable insights, tips, or tutorials related to your niche. This positions you as an expert while subtly integrating your products or services into the conversation.

Why Educating Your Audience Works:

When people see you as a reliable source of information, they’re more likely to trust your recommendations and consider your offerings.

How to Educate Your Audience:

  • Write blog posts answering common questions.

  • Create short videos or infographics for social media.

  • Offer free resources, such as eBooks or templates, in exchange for email subscriptions.

Where to Start:

Begin with a topic you know your audience struggles with. For instance, if you’re in fitness, create a “Beginner’s Guide to Meal Prep” that links to your paid meal plans.  Or most commonly used by marketers is the “Freebie”.  Marketers offer a “freebie” to collect an email and email the “freebie” that is packed with information.  Then the email address is placed into an email campaign.

2. Leverage Social Proof to Build Credibility

What Leveraging Social Proof Is:

Social proof involves showcasing testimonials, reviews, or case studies to demonstrate the value of your offerings.

Why Social Proofing Works:

People trust other people. Seeing positive feedback from existing customers reassures potential buyers about the quality of your products or services.

How to Social Proof:

  • Add customer testimonials to your website or landing pages.

  • Share user-generated content, such as photos or videos, on your social media platforms.

  • Display stats like “Over 5,000 happy clients” on your promotional materials.

Where to Start:

Ask satisfied clients or customers for a quick review. Use tools like Senja.io to organize and showcase testimonials seamlessly.  Or if your business is on Google, ask your clients or customers to write you a review on Google. If you are an affiliate for a company, you can also use their social proof just never show income statements. That will get you into hot water.

3. Create Consistent and Valuable Content

What Consistent and Valuable Is:

Consistency in content creation means delivering high-quality resources that resonate with your audience, whether through blogs, social media posts, or emails.

Why Consistent and Valuable Content Works:

Regular content keeps your audience engaged and helps you stay top-of-mind. Over time, this builds a loyal following that is more likely to convert.

How to Create Consistent and Valuable Content:

  • Plan a content calendar to ensure regular posting.

  • Use email sequences to nurture subscribers.

  • Experiment with different formats, like podcasts or webinars, to reach varied audiences.

Where to Start Creating Consistent and Valuable Content:

Identify the platforms where your audience spends the most time and focus your efforts there. For example, if your audience is on Instagram, prioritize reels and carousels.  I started on TikTok and found that my audience was not on TikTok so I expanded to Instagram and have had much more engagement there and with blogging.  It is kinda trial and error, the main key is to not give up, stay consistent and pivot when needed.

4. Use Storytelling to Humanize Your Brand

What Storytelling Is:

Some of the greatest marketers are storytellers. Storytelling involves weaving relatable and engaging stories into your marketing. It could be your personal journey, customer success stories, or the challenges your product solves.

Why Storytelling Works:

Stories create emotional connections, making your brand memorable and relatable. People remember stories more than sales pitches.

How to Story tell In Your Content:

  • Share your “why” behind starting your business in blog posts or videos.

  • Highlight customer transformations using your products.

  • Incorporate storytelling into your email marketing campaigns.

Where to Start Storytelling Content:

Write a heartfelt blog post about how you overcame a common problem your audience faces and how your product or service played a role in the solution.  You could also create a carousel on Instagram with the same information just keep it on the shorter side.

5. Optimize Call-to-Actions (CTAs) for Conversions

What Call-To-Actions (CTAs) Are:

CTAs are prompts encouraging your audience to take specific actions, such as subscribing to your newsletter, downloading a guide, or making a purchase. Samples of CTA’s are: “Buy Now” or “Learn More” or “Share With Your Network” or “Leave a Review”.

Why Call-to-Actions (CTAs) Work:

A well-placed, compelling CTA guides your audience toward the next step in their journey, whether it’s learning more or making a purchase.

How to Do Call-to-Actions (CTAs):

  • Use action-oriented language like “Get Started Today” instead of generic phrases.

  • Place CTAs strategically within your content, such as mid-way through blog posts or at the end of social media captions.

  • Test different designs, colors, and phrasing to see what resonates most.

Where to Start Using Call-To-Actions (CTAs):

In your next email campaign, include a CTA encouraging readers to book a free consultation with you or grab your freebie for more information.  You can also place a CTA in your social media post or caption section of your social media post.
